Happy New Year

Posted by on Jan 4, 2010 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

Happy New Year I hope you took time to eat drink and be merry. 2009 was a challenging year for many with the economic crisis still having it’s effects on businesses. This year should be better for everyone. As a social media strategist I find that customers generally ask the same questions. During the course of the year I will be answering these questions. The biggest one that I will discuss today is the business case for participating in social media. My answer to that is that it is no longer “should we participate” but how...

Stories from the front lines of Social Media

Natasha d’Souza is giving a talk about Social Media at the ClockTower Pub. It’s the perfect venue, cozy for our friendly little gathering. We’ve just finished an ice breaking game – everyone was an ‘ingredient’ in a recipe and we had to find our fellow ingredients to make a recipe for hot dogs and hamburgers. I’m quickly drafted to be part of a team and it looks like we’re winners.  But now it turns out that I’m the wrong ingredient!  I get kicked out of the recipe team. (snif!) The...

Facebook advertising a true success for the company

Posted by on Nov 30, 2009 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

Although Facebook popularity was exploding globally they were still in start-up mode as a company, with negative cash flow. They had to borrow to expand and maintain their data centers, which cost about $25 million to run. Sheryl Sandberg came on board about a year ago and things began to take a turn. Facebook was no longer a company run by a bunch of kids but had a COO that was there to turn Facebook into a very profitable business. So who is Sheryl Sandberg anyway? She is a Harvard graduate who was the V.P. of Global Online Sales and...

Facebook personal profiles added to ad network

Posted by on Nov 26, 2009 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

I have seen this message on my Facebook friends profiles. “On Friday, Facebook will start using your photos in ads that will appear on the profile page of your contacts. Then Facebook Ads, choose “No one” and save changes. Copy this and use in a status update.” I was somewhat skeptical as to this new direction by Facebook so I...

Where should the blog be?

Posted by on Nov 4, 2009 in Uncategorized | 1 comment

Samantha asked several questions via Facebook. Since these questions need somewhat of a long answer I thought that I would address it here. In a social media marketing training session yesterday I talked about the concept of integrating a blog to a company website. So how does Bando integrate their blog into their website? Here is what needs to be done in this case. Currently Bando promotions has a website. and a blog As you can see the blog is on eBlogger and has very different branding than that of the organization. To the user or potential...
