WhiteHouse.gov makeover

Posted by on Jan 20, 2009 in Uncategorized | 1 comment

January 20th 2009 is a historical day, it’s the inauguration of President Barack Obama.  People showed up in record numbers and had to be turned away, people watched the coverage through whatever media was available to them. There is a lot of excitement at a global level. True to his word his team have worked non stop since the election to transition his new media strategy and develop it into that of a New Media President. Barack Obama.com is still alive and has regular updates.  It’s unclear as to the future of that site.  Post...

Value of Twitter

Posted by on Jan 14, 2009 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

Twitter is touted in the Social Media circles as the end and be all tool for communication within companies.  I personally find Twitter as a great source of information and general banter about weather or otherwise.  My daily routine does involve catching up on the conversations happening in this space. Rob Lane from Overlay TV recently evaluated the value of Twitter for business executives. He does agree with the ability of companies to track what people are saying about their product and the ability to respond in real time.  The amazing PR...

With an unlimited budget you can have a very solid web and social media strategy.  Here is an analysis of one of the many social networks and how it was customized towards the audience on this site. Twitter over capacity

Posted by on Jan 7, 2009 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

I logged onto Twitter to catch up on the tweets from last night.  I came across this image Twitter over capacity!!!  So just wondering if it’s a server or two that are down or that Twitter can’t keep up with it’s every growing popularity. A few days ago they were attacked by a Phising scam and a few popular accounts were hacked.  I did notice that there were delays yesterday in the delivery of posts.  So do be patient with them it looks like they have had a touch few days. There are a number of places where you can check the...

Barack Obama’s Social Media Strategy

Posted by on Jan 7, 2009 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

I had explored Barack Obama’s web strategy which was very well implemented and executed.  The success of his campaign was not only due to his website but his social media strategy which made his team connect with people and share information. Barack Obama had some tough challenges to face as a candidate, he was relatively unknown and inexperienced in the political scene.  So how were voters going to pay attention to him? He thought grassroots and made sure he appealed to the individual by establishing a connection with them. The three...

Barack Obama’s Web strategy

Posted by on Jan 5, 2009 in Uncategorized | 1 comment

As I look back on 2008 there were many interesting happenings in social media (new media).  There were many achievements with the steady growth of various social networking sites and launch of new sites. However, the most important use of social media had to do with the past election down south, which caused quite a stir not just nationally but globally. People couldn’t stop talking about the election and wherever you were on the internet you couldn’t help but see Barack Obama. His ability to raise money and the large voter...

Posted by on Dec 17, 2008 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

If you are like me and looked at all the templates out there but can’t seem to find anything that would work for you it’s time to think, customization. There are many ways to go about it but the simplest is to start with the default WordPress template. This template let’s you customize the header color.  If you want more then start adding widgets to take care of the little extras that you would like on the side bar etc. Now I am getting pickier, I want the Blog to have the same header as the rest of the corporate website...

Posted by on Dec 15, 2008 in Uncategorized | 4 comments

It’s the thing to say in the social networking world, isn’t there a service where I update my profile once and all the other profiles get updated? AtomKeep claims to solve the problem.  They do support all the major social networkin or web 2.0 sites e.g. Linkedin, Facebook, MySpace, YouTube and more. They are in Beta so sign up and try it out. I do put the disclaimer that I have not tired them out. If you do, do share your...

Twitter 102

Posted by on Dec 11, 2008 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

A couple of days ago I had written about Twitter basics.  Now here’s something really cool about Twitter. A few minutes ago someone tweeted about a shooting at UQAM.  It’s a university in Montreal. The tweets here are bi-lingual some in English and some in French.  So how does one follow a conversation in a language they don’t understand?  Simple,...
